400 Horses 03:59
400 Horses Grandpa bought a car when he retired from the farm He got a part-time job in town, so he didn’t drive too far But he always said you had to watch your speed with that machine When that Delta 88 got handed down to me Freedom was having my own driving machine So what if it burned a little oil and lots of gasoline Yeh, my first car was a rocket hiding in an Oldsmobile 400 Horses and me behind the wheel An Oldsmobile Delta 88 four fifty five You could smoke the tires off before you left the drive You could run that car so fast the competition lost its nerve Blow the door off speed was there, but best you mind the curves Freedom was having my own driving machine So what if it burned a little oil and lots of gasoline Yeh, my first car was a rocket hiding in an Oldsmobile 400 Horses and me behind the wheel Roll the windows down, feel the wind rush by I worked hard to pay for gas ‘Cause man I loved to drive Man, I loved to drive Freedom was having my own driving machine So what if it burned a little oil and lots of gasoline Oh, but you could smoke the tires in second gear You could run that quarter mile so fast that it got hard to steer Yeh, my first car was a rocket hiding in an Oldsmobile 400 Horses and me behind the wheel Copyright 2011 Jeff Brockmeyer Published by BrockMartin Publishing ASCAP

o Good to be Back In Texas I've been on the road too long, I miss that Texas air All my friends will be glad to see me, whenever I get there They'll ask me “where did you go, what did you see” I'll say "Nothin' that ain't right here for me And it's so good to be back in Texas” Well, I feel like I been rode hard and put up wet But I’m gonna get back home first chance I get I'm pointing my truck to that Lone Star State I'm going home and baby I can't wait 'Cause it's so good to be back in Texas Yeh, it's so good to be back in Texas Long blonde hair and a Stetson hat, I love my Texas girl With a welcome smile she'll hold me tight And show me 'round the world. She'll ask me where did you go, who did you see I'll say, "Honey you're the only girl for me And it's so good to be back in Texas” Well, I feel like I been rode hard and put up wet But I’m gonna get back home first chance I get I'm pointing my truck to that Lone Star State I'm going home and baby I can't wait 'Cause it's so good to be back in Texas Yeh, it's so good to be back in Texas From the Rio Grande to the Alamo I love it all … and don't you know It's so good to be back in Texas Well, I feel like I been rode hard and put up wet But I’m gonna get back home first chance I get I'm pointing my truck to that Lone Star State I'm going home and baby I can't wait 'Cause it's so good to be back in Texas Yeh, it's so good to be back in Texas It's so good to be back in Texas Words and music by Jeff Brockmeyer Copyright 2010 BrockMartin Publishing

American Hero I never heard him talk about it, but he served his country well Went war against great evil, suffered more than he could tell I guess the honor guard surprised me, As did the medals on his chest And the man I knew as Grampa Turned out to be one of his countries best Where do you find an American Hero Oh, they’re right beside us and we might not even know How they were first to stand, or to lend a hand Answer duties call, or stand up for us all Where do you find, where do you find An American Hero She never thought that she could do it, when she answered the call In the aftermath of such destruction, she couldn’t help them all Her smile and her compassion never wavered, But every night alone she had to cry Still in there eyes she was an angel As she helped rebuild so many shattered lives Where do you find an American Hero Oh, they’re right beside us and we might not even know How they were first to stand, or to lend a hand Answer duties call, or stand up for us all Where do you find, where do you find An American Hero She wouldn’t sit back where they told her They fought back even when they knew they’d fall When the hold high the torch of freedom Well, they do it for us all Where do you find an American Hero Oh, they’re right beside us and we might not even know How they were first to stand, or to lend a hand Answer duties call, or stand up for us all Where do you find, where do you find An American Hero Where do you find, where do you find An American Hero Words and music by Jeff Brockmeyer Copyright 2011 BrockMartin Publishing

Alabama Dually Crankin’ the tunes, we were drivin’ around Night in Alabama, way outa town We took a shortcut down an old dirt road When she cried, “Oh, no!” and mashed the brakes all the way to the floor. We sank her daddy’s truck in the mud clean up to the doors. We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud That old dirt road was a swamp, musta been quite a flood I said “I guess we’re stuck out here all night” She looked at me and said “Maybe that’s all right” We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud Ooh, yeh, yeh … We both got muddy trying to get it out When it started to rain, we both gave up Back in the cab she said “Baby, I’m cold … “ We should huddle for warmth and get out of these wet clothes…” There ain’t no help ‘till mornin’ baby, come keep me warm”. We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud That old dirt road was a swamp, musta been quite a flood I said “I guess we’re stuck out here all night” She looked at me and said “Maybe that’s all right” We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud Ooh, yeh, yeh … They say sometimes you gotta get a little “mud on the tires”. But it took a semi wrecking truck to pull us outa the mire. We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud That old dirt road was a swamp, musta been quite a flood I said “I guess we’re stuck out here all night” She looked at me and said “Maybe that’s all right” We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud We got that Alabama Dually … stuck in the mud We got that Alabama Dually … stuck deep in the mud Ooh, yeh, yeh … Copyright 2011 BrockMartin Publishing

Stranger Things How did I get here, the path was so obscured Think I took a wrong turn and baby, there you were What were the odds of you and me I can't imagine this could be The time and place we would fall in love But, Stranger things have happened in my life Than anything I could dream of, or devise Stranger things have happened in my time Than ever thinking your love was something I would find But, stranger things have happened… Stranger Things Why do you hold on, baby, when we've both been hurt I know it ain't been easy, but somehow we've endured Nobody else has hung around Through standing up and falling down Somehow, I know that we'll survive 'Cause, Stranger things have happened in my life Than anything I could dream of, or devise Stranger things have happened in my time Than ever thinking your love was something I would find But, stranger things have happened… Stranger Things What kind of fate or fortune could see Me in love with you, and you here loving me But, Stranger things have happened in my life Than anything I could dream of, or devise Stranger things have happened in my time Than ever thinking your love was something I would find But, stranger things have happened… Stranger Things … Much stranger things … stranger things … Copyright 2011 BrockMartin Publishing word and music by Jeff Brockmeyer

Too Hot in L.A. Someone made off with a lot of cash Everybody thinks it was me. An innocent man shouldn’t have to run But who’re they gonna believe The usual suspects have an alibi So I’ve been thinking ‘bout taking some vacation time I’m gonna head on down to Mexico Just gotta get away They say it’s nice in Mexico I might be inclined to stay Not gonna stop ‘till I get there Not coming back, I don’t care You’re gonna like it down in Mexico All the senoritas say Start a new life in Mexico ‘Cause it’s just too hot in L.A. Got my stuff and gas in the car Shaved my ‘stash just to change my face Got a VISA card that I can’t use ‘Cause it’s just too easy to trace Nobody’s watching it’s time to go For my long vacation down in Mexico. I’m gonna head on down to Mexico Just gotta get away The say it’s nice in Mexico I might be inclined to stay Not gonna stop ‘till I get there Not coming back, I don’t care You’re gonna like it down in Mexico All the senoritas say Start a new life in Mexico ‘Cause it’s just too hot in L.A. Now that I’m crossing the border, I guess I can tell you I lied. There’s an overnight package full of cash waiting for me on the other side. Here I am in Mexico Guess I got away It’s sure nice here in Mexico I think I’m gonna stay I got the money it’s all O.K. No one got hurt, and I got away You’re gonna like it down in Mexico All the senoritas say Start a new life here in Mexico ‘Cause it’s just too hot in L.A. ‘Cause it’s just too hot in L.A. ‘Cause it’s just too hot in L.A. A Story to Share A group of old men retired from farming They meet for coffee most every day They talk about family and good times They talk about bad days and sometimes They just sip their coffee and don't say a word While Ed tells a new one that nobody's heard ‘Cause they've all got a story to share About small town life and the people who live there Some stories are funny and some bring a tear Some are about friends that are no longer here And sometimes ... They're a burden to bear And they’ve all got a story to share The hour long coffee break's just about done They cut the cards to see who has won Looks like old Taylor drew high card again So he gets to pay & everyone grins ‘Cause they know they'll be back tomorrow again To gamble for coffee and swap a new story with friends ‘Cause they've all got a story to share About small town life and the people who live there Some stories are funny and some bring a tear Some are about friends that are no longer here And sometimes ... They're a burden to bear And they’ve all got a story to share Now everyone listens to Billy He’s the grandson that Gordon brought with him today The story's not long but they listen How grandpa went fishing with him yesterday And we’ve all got a story to share About our lives and the people who care Some stories are funny and some bring a tear Some are about friends who are no longer here And sometimes … they’re a burden to bear But we’ve all got a story to share We’ve all got a story to share Words and music by Jeff Brockmeyer Copyright 2010 BrockMartin Publishing

Showboat 03:24
SHOWBOAT Showboat, Paddle wheel and steam, Pushing up the river, then back to New Orleans. Lanterns on the river night; I'd love to come along, With the ladies and the gentlemen, Oh, I'll miss you when you're gone! Summer days are hot and the river's rolling slow. The River Queen has sailed from New Orleans. All the folks along the shore come down to see once more, That palace on the river, they call the River Queen. Showboat, Paddle wheel and steam, Pushing up the river, then back to New Orleans. Lanterns on the river night; I'd love to come along, With the ladies and the gentlemen, Oh, I'll miss you when you're gone! Sparkle like a firefly, I can see your lanterns glow, And hear you splash white water from your wheel. Captain from your wheelhouse, please ring your bell for me; The Lady of the River, the showboat River Queen. Showboat, Paddle wheel and steam, Pushing up the river, then back to New Orleans. Lanterns on the river night; I'd love to come along, With the ladies and the gentlemen, Oh, I'll miss you when you're gone! Cruising up and down that muddy Mississippi River I'd just want to sail away Pack my bag and buy my passage on that paddle wheeler Let her take me far away Copyright 2011 BrockMartin Publishing

Drive 04:54
Just Drive I had to leave the house ‘cause I was so mad This has been the worst fight you and I have had I’ve punched the steering wheel a dozen times now But that won’t change the way you feel or fix things anyhow So I drive All alone in this truck of mine One more cigarette hits the road behind I’m not gonna stop until I find A way off this road I’m headed down I’m just looking for a place to turn around So I drive … I just drive Thought I’d maybe stop somewhere and get a beer But drinkin’ just won’t change a thing and what I fear Is nothing I can do or say Will change your mind ‘bout leaving me today So I drive All alone in this truck of mine One more cigarette hits the road behind I’m not gonna stop until I find A way off this road I’m headed down I’m just looking for a place to turn around So I drive … I just drive I’ve got to hurry home and tell you I’m sorry I was wrong ‘Cause it’ll be to late to fix if I get there and you’re already gone So I drive All alone in this truck of mine My last cigarette hits the road behind But I’m not gonna stop until I find A way off this road we’re headed down I just got to find a place where we can turn it all around So I drive … I just drive… I just drive Copyright 2010 Jeff Brockmeyer BrockMartin Publishing ASCAP

If You'd Stayed The smoke from my cigarette drifts away on a cool night breeze By morning you'll be in Dallas, back home from Tennessee And thought it through … and even though I wanted you To stay here with me, you left anyway But what could've happened if you'd stayed There'll be regrets now either way And baby, you're driving home, oh and I … I'm here alone And this still won't feel right in the harsh light of day What could've happened if you'd stayed I went inside and turned on a light, 'cause I can't sleep It's too late for us, but it's not too late to drink And all of my thoughts just keep spinning around Was I so wrong about us, would have left either way But what could've happened if you'd stayed There'll be regrets now either way And baby, you're driving home, oh and I … I'm here alone And this still won't feel right in the harsh light of day What could've happened if you'd stayed I thought we'd wake up together, but maybe this is better Just keeping our hearts safer this way But what could've happened if you'd stayed There'll be regrets now either way And baby, you're driving home, oh and I … I'm here alone And this still won't feel right in the harsh light of day What could've happened if you'd … What would've happened if you'd … What could've happened if you'd stayed © 2011 Jeff Brockmeyer Words and music by Jeff Brockmeyer

about

Reuben Brock Nashville, Tennessee

I always knew I was destined to be a traveler and a collector of stories. My songs are the music I hear in my head that seems to me to have been a part of the stories all along. For the traveler, there's always the familiar, restless pull...the long road that awaits and yet flows into the past.

The first single release from the upcoming Reuben Brock DAMAGE studio album is NAIL AND HAMMER.
