Saturday morning Grandma's headed to town She'd say “Boy, would you like to ride along” So I'd climb up into the truck and turn the radio way up loud And the only warning for miles around That me and Grandma was headed to town Was a fast moving cloud of dust and some country sounds We'd roll into town with the windows down Blasting out a little George Jones Everybody on the square knew that Grandma was there If Johnny Cash was on the stereo There was no doubt in the world, Grandma was a country girl Grandma liked to play it loud and she really liked Merle We'd all pile in the back of Grandpa's Ford All my cousins and sister and some friends, oh lord On those Saturday nights when Grandpa played the fiddle and I'd get to sing Yeah, everybody knew when my family was all Headed to the dance at the legion hall With a truck bed full of kids and Grandma singing along We'd roll into town with the windows down Blasting out a little George Jones Everybody on the square knew that Grandma was there If Johnny Cash was on the stereo There was no doubt in the world, Grandma was a country girl Grandma liked to play it loud and she really liked Merle Haggard and Jones and Waylon and Willie Tanya Tucker, Loretta or Conway Twitty George Strait, Winonna, Grandma really liked 'em all, all, all She'd roll into town with the windows down Blasting out a little George Jones Everybody on the square knew that Grandma was there If Johnny Cash was on the stereo There was no doubt in the world, Grandma was a country girl Grandma liked to play it loud and she really liked Grandma liked to play it loud and she really liked Grandma liked her country music loud and she really liked Merle

I Like A Girl (Who Drives A Truck) She rolls by with her top down On that Mercedes her daddy bought her, really goes to town And it's red and it's shiny and it goes real fast She blows me a kiss as she rolls past But I like a girl who drives a truck I like a girl who like to... watch NASCAR Yeah, she likes me too and I just can't believe my luck I like a girl who drives a truck Those long legs swung out as she opened the door Oooh, that little black sports car matched the dress that she wore Well I had to watch the show as she walked by, oh my She gave me a wink and smile my oh my... But I like a girl who drives a truck I like a girl who like to... shoot whiskey Yeah, she likes me too and I just can't believe my luck I like a girl who drives a truck she looked like an angle in that big black four wheel drive My ol' truck it was all broke down when she asked if I needed a ride I said “I've seen you around town girl” as we headed down the road She said “Boy, I seen you too, now how far do wanna go?” Ohhh But I like a girl who drives a truck I like a girl who like to... go fishing Yeah, she likes me too and I just can't believe my luck I like a girl who drives a truck I like a girl who drives a truck I like a girl...

Fishing After Dark Gonna be a big full moon tonight The fish'll be biting yeah, that sounds about right I'll get the tackle and the poles And get 'em all loaded up in the truck Do you wanna go fishing after dark Down by the lake, we'll find a place to park Cast our lines and watch the bobbers floating out on the waves Then I'll put my arms around you, hold you tight in the light of this big ol' moon Can't wait for your kisses, let those fishes run away with the bait Do you wanna go fishing after dark I just wanna go fishing after dark Oh, baby, I'm wishing we were fishing after dark Got the cooler packed with our favorite brew And when the sun goes down, girl, here's what I'm thinking we'll do I'll pack a picnic basket just for us And then I'm coming to pick you up Do you wanna go fishing after dark Down by the lake, we'll find a place to park Cast our lines and watch the bobbers floating out on the waves Then I'll put my arms around you, hold you tight in the light of this big ol' moon Can't wait for your kisses, let those fishes run away with the bait Do you wanna go fishing after dark I just wanna go fishing after dark Oh, baby, I'm wishing we were fishing after dark Turn the radio down low, to that country station we both know In the moonlight it'll be just right, what do you say.... Do you wanna go fishing after dark Down by the lake, we'll find a place to park Cast our lines and watch the bobbers floating out on the waves Then I'll put my arms around you, hold you tight in the light of this big ol' moon Can't wait for your kisses, let those fishes run away with the bait Do you wanna go fishing after dark I just wanna go fishing after dark Oh, baby, I'm wishing we were fishing after dark Wishing we were fishing Oh, baby, I'm wishing we were fishing after dark Words and music by Jeff Brockmeyer Copyright 2016 Jeff Brockmeyer

Froze Over 03:42
Froze Over I was 3 Fireballs down when you walked in In that little red dress, you know was just made for sin When we get together it gets outta control DLSV MA, baby, don't you know I swore it'd be a cold day before we ever got together again I guess hell froze over 'cause I woke up here with you Whiskey & tequila should never mix, like you and I, what did we do We're a dangerous mixture, there's no defense Why we're drawn together don't make no sense Unless hell froze over last night when I saw you I told myself that I knew better but that became a lie With two more shots my self control just smiled and waved goodbye Don't remember exactly what happened next But from what I recall I'm gonna have regrets Tribulation and trouble are all I've found whenever you come around I guess hell froze over 'cause I woke up here with you Whiskey & tequila should never mix, like you and I, what did we do We're a dangerous mixture, no defense Why we're drawn together don't make no sense Unless hell froze over last night when I saw you Like Dynamite with gasoline Like Jose Cuervo with Jim Beam It's just crazy, crazy, crazy you and me I guess hell froze over 'cause I woke up here with you Whiskey & tequila should never mix, like you and I, what did we do We're a dangerous mixture, no defense Why we're drawn together don't make no sense Unless hell froze over last night when I saw you I guess hell froze over last night when I saw you

Time & Whiskey Dancing on the edges, life was sharp and crystal clear When you're young just having fun, running anywhere but here Living in the moment, you don't see the path you're on “Til you slow down and look around and see how far off course you've gone Time & Whiskey Fade the colors of us to grey Push the times we have before things went bad One day further away. And the whiskey haze and passing days Dull the hard sharp edges we knew Time & whiskey, takes me a little bit further from you Sometimes it's a harsh surprise, when you realize the cost Of everything you've said and done, adds up to what you've lost We'd bee burning out this love so fast I guess we burned right through And all the dreams that I'd been chasing meant finally losing you Time & Whiskey Fade the colors of us to grey Push the times we have before things went bad One day further away. And the whiskey haze and passing days Dull the hard sharp edges we knew Time & whiskey, takes me a little bit further from you We'd had a few too many, we had a fight I don't clearly recall But I woke up with my head on fire, not knowing where you'd gone But you were gone You were gone... Time & Whiskey Fade the colors of us to grey Push the times we have before things went bad One day further away. And the whiskey haze and passing days Dull the hard sharp edges we knew Time & whiskey, takes me a little bit further from you Time & whiskey, takes me a little bit further from you

Drive All Night Her license plate said “2fine4u” On that red Corvette outside the burgers and brew. As I walked in and I knew it was hers With that NASCAR jacket and some dangerous curves. I said “Hey, girl, does that StingRay go fast?” And she said, “If you want a test drive You gotta ask me to dance. I wanna have some fun, you can buy me drinks at the bar And then, if I still like you, you can drive my car”. She said, Do you know how to drive, when to go real fast. Can you handle the curves, not run outa gas. How far can you take me before the morning light. And I said, Don’t worry baby, I can drive all night. We closed down the place; she tossed me the keys and said, “The night is young, don’t take me home yet, please. We’ve had some laughs, and well, so far you pass. But before you get behind the wheel, I have to ask”. Do you know how to drive, when to go real fast. Can you handle the curves, not run outa gas. How far can you take me before the morning light. And I said, Don’t worry baby, I can drive all night. Under a dome of stars, we were riding in the cool night air She looked at me and said, “Baby, I think we’re almost there. Do you know how to drive, when to go real fast. Can you handle the curves, not run outa gas. How far can you take me before the morning light. And I said, Don’t worry baby, I can drive all night. How far can you take me before the morning light. And I said, Don’t worry baby, I can drive all night.

Reminders of Tess I was going out that night, I was looking for my best shirt When I ran across that dress I gave her, sometime reminders hurt I didn't think she'd left behind anything but me Made me stop and realize I never wanted her to leave I never found what I was looking for Just reminders of Tess Just a broken piece of my life I'm trying to forget Sometimes it comes back painfully when I've forgotten, more or less I never found what I was looking for Just reminders of Tess I went out to find some fun at a little club in town I was making conversation with someone new I'd found But I saw someone, it looked just like Tess and the memories dragged me down I'm trying to live my life again, but my heart keeps hanging on I never found what I was looking for Just reminders of Tess Just a broken piece of my life I'm trying to forget Sometimes it comes back painfully when I've forgotten, more or less I never found what I was looking for Just reminders of Tess I've tried to let her memory go, but every now and then I think about how it might have been... How can I pretend I never found what I was looking for Just reminders of Tess Just a broken piece of my life I'm trying to forget Sometimes it comes back painfully when I've forgotten, more or less I never found what I was looking for Just reminders of Tess

Just Like Scarlet and Rhett There's a hole in the wall Loving you ain't been easy at all A battle was fought, but nobody won But we're still in love through the damage we've done And just like Scarlet and Rhett When they danced at the ball When I'm holding you nothing matters at all I've seen the pain in your eyes We hurt each other and yet We can't help staying in love Like Scarlet and Rhett You told me to go But that's not what you want, girl, I know So I'll hold you tight, 'cause sometimes that's just enough To heal the anger and hurt of things we both said and done And just like Scarlet and Rhett When they danced at the ball When I'm holding you nothing matters at all I've seen the pain in your eyes We hurt each other and yet We can't help staying in love Like Scarlet and Rhett We fight to build it up, then we fight and burn it down Seems like life or death, and sometimes love is all that's left And just like Scarlet and Rhett When they danced at the ball When I'm holding you nothing matters at all I've seen the pain in your eyes We hurt each other and yet We can't help staying in love Like Scarlet and Rhett

How Far 04:52
How Far The dust on this windshield reminds me Of all the miles that separate your heart from mine And it doesn’t matter how far I go, Thoughts of you follow me. You’re still on my mind How far do I have to go? To leave you behind, there’s just no way to know Just what I’ll have to do So I won’t be haunted by this love I seem to hold on to No matter what road I find, each highway mile brings you to mind Even though it hurts me so, baby, how far do I have to go? This concrete highway is still hot tonight As I leave another empty love behind And the night seems to whisper your name Even holding someone new, thoughts of you still remain How far do I have to go? To leave you behind, there’s just no way to know Just what I’ll have to do So I won’t be haunted by this love I seem to hold on to No matter what road I find, each highway mile brings you to mind Even though it hurts me so, baby, how far do I have to go? You’re still driving me insane But on this lonely road, well there’s just me to blame How far do I have to go? To leave you behind, there’s just no way to know Just what I’ll have to do So I won’t be haunted by this love I seem to hold on to No matter what road I find, each highway mile brings you to mind Even though you hurt me so, baby, how far do I have to go?

Cold Hard Ride I don't mind the cold, but it's been snowing all day When you told me it was over, I just rode away Now I'm out here alone, nothing left but my pride And there's nowhere to hide from all the regrets that led up to goodbye And it's a cold, hard ride 'Cross these back roads and fields Never thought that I'd lose you But now I know how it feels So lost without your love Well it hurts deep inside Anyway that I'm going … It's a cold, hard ride I don't carry your picture, 'cause I still see you face When I remember the angry words we both said in haste Was I too unforgiving, why did you have to lie When it's all said and done, how quickly love dies And it's a cold, hard ride 'Cross these back roads and fields Never thought that I'd lose you But now I know how it feels So lost without your love Well it hurts deep inside Anyway that I'm going … It's a cold, hard ride Out here all alone I'm rode out and tired Don't know how I'll go on without your love by my side And it's a cold, hard ride 'Cross these back roads and fields Never thought that I'd lose you But now I know how it feels So lost without your love Well it hurts deep inside Anyway that I'm going … It's a cold, hard ride Anyway that I'm going … It's a cold, hard ride

None Touched My Heart The last ones at the party where just leaving I walked them to the door and said “goodbye” I closed the door and realized how empty This house has been without you in my life You know there've been others try to save me But somehow you did what no one else could do 'Cause out of all the others in my life who were just passing through None touched my heart Only you... I was left alone to think about us Again I'll go to bed without you My friends they try and help me not remember But sometimes it doesn't matter, I just do You know there've been others try to save me But somehow you did what no one else could do 'Cause out of all the others in my life who were just passing through None touched my heart Only you... Tonight it would have been so nice to have you by my side But you had to follow your dreams, and I had to follow mine You know there've been others try to save me But somehow you did what no one else could do 'Cause out of all the others in my life who were just passing through None touched my heart Only you... 'Cause out of all the others in my life they were just passing through None touched my heart Only you...

Harley, Jack and Me Pulled on my boots, got packed, cause it was time Her life could not contain the restless part of mine I'll stop by for a bottle of black label as I'm headed out of town Got some gas in my bike, no destination past the road I'm headed down. Now I'm watching the sunset fade on me Drinking, keeping this campfire company Alone tonight here in the desert it's her face I see With tears in her eyes because I'm gone Riding out in the morning I'll move on Left with nothing to lose, freedom's all you really keep Here I am, it's just my Harley, Jack and me She almost found her way into my heart this time Never thought that it would last, she wasn't really mine I don't want to break her heart but I've been here far too long She won't understand all of the reasons why I'm leaving now Now I'm watching the sunset fade on me Drinking, keeping this campfire company Alone tonight here in the desert it's her face I see With tears in her eyes because I'm gone Riding out in the morning I'll move on Left with nothing to lose, freedom's all you get to keep Here I am, it's just my Harley, Jack and me Sipping on this whiskey might just help me sleep Tried to hold on for a while, but she wasn't mine to keep Now I'm watching the sunset fade on me Drinking, keeping this campfire company Alone tonight here in the desert it's her face I see With tears in her eyes because I'm gone Riding out in the morning I'll move on Left with nothing to lose, freedom's all you really keep Here I am, it's just my Harley, Jack and me In the end, it's just my Harley, Jack and me ©2014 Jeff Brockmeyer Words and music by Jeff Brockmeyer and Wendy Martin

about

Reuben Brock Nashville, Tennessee

I always knew I was destined to be a traveler and a collector of stories. My songs are the music I hear in my head that seems to me to have been a part of the stories all along. For the traveler, there's always the familiar, restless pull...the long road that awaits and yet flows into the past.

The first single release from the upcoming Reuben Brock DAMAGE studio album is NAIL AND HAMMER.
